MONTH IN REVIEW Former Vogue Publisher Tom Florio Takes Over MAGIC; DeMoulin Heads Up Customer Development and the Licensing Group Santa Monica, CA – Chris DeMoulin has been placed in charge of customer devel- opment at Advanstar Communications, and magazine executive Tom Florio will take over DeMoulin's position as head of the company's Fashion Group and its flagship MAGIC Marketplace, it was an- nounced Tuesday. DeMoulin was named executive vice president of customer development and president of licensing. Advanstar CEO Joe Loggia said DeMoulin would "lead the efforts to connect Advanstar's customers to their global licensing platforms." DeMoulin joined Advanstar in 2008 aſter a successful career at Disney which included extensive experience in the product licensing field. He was given the reins of Advanstar's flagship MAGIC. Te semi-annual retail fashion event ac- complished a rare feat. Not only was it ranked on Trade Show Executive's Gold 100 list of largest U.S. trade shows but also its Fastest 50 rankings of rapidly growing exhibitions in 2010. Just as DeMoulin did four years ago, Florio takes over MAGIC without an extensive record in trade shows. Florio spent 25 years at Condé Nast including a decade as publisher of its flagship title, Vogue magazine. He is credited with developing the authoritative fashion title's digital platforms ShopVogue.com and Vogue.TV. Florio also worked with IMG Worldwide in October 2010 as senior fashion advisor to the office of the chairman. His contract with IMG ended in 2011. Loggia said Florio was well-equipped to oversee the continuing evolution of the iconic MAGIC brand, which will include a restructuring of the Fashion and Retail Groups. "Tom's leadership and insights will propel Advanstar to the next level," Loggia said. Advanstar aims to expand its revenue base through consumer-oriented initiatives such as a new website tenta- tively called shopthefloor.com that will bring the trade-show experience online. "Te anatomy of the fashion busi- ness is changing from supply chain to e-commerce," Loggia said. "Our goal is to expand our platform in these areas and provide a marketplace where all businesses that touch fashion connect."
