It was also a record year for the long-running trade show for the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning industry. Te show drew nearly 58,000 attendees to Chicago in late January and totaled 428,764 nsf, the largest show in its 82-year history. "We are delighted that we established all-time records for both the size of the event and visitor atten- dance," said Clay Stevens, president of the show management firm International Exposition Company. "We hope this is an indication the economy is on the upswing and will continue to improve." Te economic recovery released some pent-up demand at AHR Expo, and new energy-efficient products for climate con- trol also drew attendees and exhibitors, Stevens said. Te exhibit hall included 1,976 vendors from 35 countries and nearly tied the record of 1,989 exhibitors set in 2006. h Sports Licensing & Tailgating Show. Showproco LLC was able to build on the momentum from 2011 when attendance jumped 26% from 2010. Te 2012 show in Las Vegas drew a crowd of 7,978, which was 6.3% over the previous year. The year 2011 as a whole showed a more definite direction with all three metrics on the upswing. Although growth was modest at best, it was indeed growth at a time when the trend was expected to be slow.
