FEATURE REED EXHIBITIONS Expecting Record Revenue Growth in 2012 In 2012, Reed Exhibitions, a division of Reed Elsevier plc, will produce 500 trade and consumer exhibitions, conferences and meetings in 39 countries. Te events serve 44 industry sectors, including aero- space and aviation, beauty and cosmetics, and sports and recreation. In the last year, Reed launched 46 new events across a wide variety of industry sectors. Reed also continued to expand its presence in emerging markets, such as China, Brazil, Russia and India, through launches and strategic acquisitions. Expect even more in 2012. Reed is also expecting solid organic growth as most markets and sectors the company serves are growing. "I think it's fair to say that volume and revenues arising from e-products and traditional booth space will offer continued revenue growth in 2012," said Nancy Walsh, ex- ecutive vice president, Reed Exhibitions North America. "Attendee and exhibitor satisfaction levels are up and on the rise, and exhibitor retention is strong. We're looking at double-digit revenue growth in 2012 in the Americas." Reed is looking at opportunities in Mexico, in addition to continued rapid expansion in Brazil. Reed will also expand its One2One model that it launched in 2011. "We are anticipating new buying summits, mostly domestic, but we do have plans to take them globally," said Walsh. Her biggest challenge: "Keeping pace with the quick advances in technology," said Walsh. "How will these new tech- nologies not only change the distribution channels but how will they present new opportunities?
