LOOKING AHEAD What Major Trade Shows are on Tap for July? AACC Annual Meeting SEMICON West JULY 10-12 Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA Te semi-conductor show, held on the outskirts of Silicon Valley, reported a surge in exhibitors last year that resulted in an 11.3% increase in exhibit space. Semiconductor Equipment Materials International (SEMI) will be organizing the newcomers into their existing TECH- ZONE floor layout to provide better con- nection between specific specialties and the estimated 31,000 attendees who will make their way to Moscone Center. SEMICON West is co-located with the July 9-12 Intersolar North America, a venture of Germany's Solar Promotion International GmbH. Te organizers are bullish on this year's show due to the continuing growth of the solar industry. Tey expect 950 exhibitors parked on 200,000 net square feet. Reach Leslie Rauscher, SEMI senior tradeshow manager, at (408) 943-6900 or lrauscher@semi.org; Diana Döppe, show manager, Solar Promotion Inter- national GmbH, at +49 7231 58598-22 or doeppe@intersolar.us and Clinical Lab Expo JULY 15-19 Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA 87 on the TSE Gold 100 Te American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) is expecting record attendance when it convenes in Los Ange- les. More than 19,000 people are expected along with 700 exhibitors. A good inter- national presence is likely with more than 100 nations represented. Te AACC stresses that while Clinical Lab Expo serves the healthcare industry, it is as much a product exposition as it is a scientific symposium. Tat means the vast majority of attendees will be on hand look- ing for new products rather than locking themselves away in the breakout rooms listening to the latest research papers. A breakdown of attendees reveals that most are in laboratory management rather than research. About 81% have purchasing authority and 91% consider visiting the exhibits to be their first or second priority. Exhibitors won't have to worry about being overwhelmed by the crowd. Te SEMICON West AACC this year offered each exhibitor 10 name badges for its employees and will make additional badges available for purchase during the show. Te generous allotment was made to allow exhibitor staff to attend the educational sessions and still have adequate manpower to man the booths. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, Fort Lauderdale, FL Te trade show portion of the event for fa- cility managers has been shortened to one weekend with eight hours dedicated solely to the exhibits. Te goal is to concentrate the deal-making and networking and minimize the downtime and the distrac- tions of Florida's inviting beaches. In fact, the conference portion of VenueConnect will be held Monday July 23 while the exhibitors are dismantling their booths and moving out. Exhibitors will still have a chance to meet and mingle with their MRKet 14 May 2012 | Trade Show Executive
