Te show was part of the U.S. government's International Buyer Program, which helped attract attend- ees from 60 nations who mingled with Americans from all 50 states. ASD Las Vegas and the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) together accounted for more than 1,000,000 nsf in the U.S., and the CGTA Fall Toronto Gift Show covered 410,984 nsf north of the border. Gold 100 Gifts Te presence of three Gold 100 shows serving the retail business pushed the Giſt sector to the top of the list of sectors served by Dashboard shows. ASD Las Vegas and the New York Interna- tional Giſt Fair (NYIGF) together accounted for more than 1,000,000 nsf in the U.S., and the CGTA Fall Toronto Giſt Show covered 410,984 nsf north of the border. Nielsen reported flat attendance and a (2.2)% decline in exhibit space at ASD – Las Vegas, although the show was still nearly a heſty 685,000 nsf and drew attend- ees and vendors from a broad retail base. Metrics for the NYIGF were virtually flat. Te exhibitor count was unchanged from last year at 2,800 and total exhibit space at the three Big Apple venues grew just 0.1% to 545,000. GLM said the performance was still a good way to end the Summer. "Expectations for the Summer market were not only met, but exceeded," said show director and GLM Vice President Christian Falkenberg, who added the show was the largest since August 2009. Te other Gold 100 show taking place in August was Fire-Rescue International in Denver, which experienced double-digit decreases across the board. Exhibit space declined (21.8)% to 147,600 nsf, reflecting pressure on that industry sector. Top Venues Las Vegas was by far the leading host city in terms of exhibit space. Four shows, including the massive MAGIC and ASD – Las Vegas, combined for 1,786,746 nsf, roughly two thirds of the entire Dashboard total. New York City was second with the NYIGF's 545,000 nsf and Outdoor Retailer clinched third place for Salt Lake City at 492,281 nsf. Next Month Te September Dashboard will include a review of the 2012 edition of the biennial International Manufacturing Technology Show at McCormick Place. Te event promises to exceed 1,000,000 nsf again and will once again be co- located with Industrial Automation North America 2012, a production of Deutsche Messe AG that launched in 2010. Other major events in September include: Solar Power International in Or- lando, Interbike and MINExpo International in Las Vegas, and the American Society for Industrial Security 2012 in Philadelphia. TSE Gifts Galore. Three gift-oriented shows dominated the August calendar and easily topped 1 million nsf. The NYIGF (above) drew 2,800 exhibitors to New York and grew its exhibit space slightly to 545,000 nsf.
