MONTH IN REVIEW Pet Industry Spring 2013 Trade Show Postponed and Changed to Biennial Format BY DANICA TORMOHLEN, contributing editor Chicago, IL – H.H. Backer Associates Inc. has postponed its Pet Industry Spring Trade Show, scheduled April 10-12, 2013, in Atlantic City, NJ, and will change the show to a biennial format in 2014, in Atlantic City. "Te economy continues to be a key factor in the decision-making process for our exhibitors to determine which shows and open houses to attend in 2013," said Colette Fairchild, CEM, CMP, trade show director. "Many are taking a more conservative stance on show attendance until they see their companies' overall sales improve. We're confident, however, that by holding the show every two years, we can produce a successful, viable event for both buyers and exhibitors." Te 2012 Pet Industry Spring Trade Show featured 318 manufacturers and whole- salers exhibiting in 583 booths and drew about 5,400 retail buyers from around the world. In 2011, the show returned to Atlan- tic City aſter being held in Baltimore, MD, and switched to a weekday-only format. H.H. Backer's also produces the Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show & Educational Conference, set for October 12-14 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. It will continue as an annual event. Te 2011 show featured 637 manufactur- ers and wholesalers exhibiting in 1,103 booths and drew close to 9,000 retail buyers. H.H. Backer also publishes PET AGE, a monthly B-to-B magazine.
