How Far is Too Far?; Winning Strategies for Cost Containment; and Developing a Risk Management Plan for Your Show. Networking: Canadian Style Te conference featured two optional pre- conference events. Twenty people partici- pated in a golf outing at the Glen Arbour Golf Course, one of Atlantic Canada's premiere golf destinations. Others spent a leisurely day experiencing the wineries of Nova Scotia and the scenic beauty of the Annapolis Valley. Attendees sampled wines at a tasting at Luckett Vineyards, one of the province's top-rated wineries. A majority of CAEM's membership is based in Ontario, so attendance is typically higher when the annual conference is held in Ontario. The 2012 trade show was also smaller in terms of space than last year because it was held in a hotel. We were limited by space, not demand. Serge Micheli, CAEM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Te opening reception was held at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, featur- ing one of the most comprehensive Titanic exhibitions in the world. Delegates enjoyed a casual buffet dinner, refreshments and local entertainment by the Colin Grant Duo, a traditional Celtic group. Te clos- ing reception featured a lobster fest at the Waterfront Warehouse, located on the historic Halifax waterfront. "Overall, the mood was very positive," said Micheli. "Te exposition industry in Canada appears to be picking up." Reach Serge at (866) 441-9377 or smicheli@caem.ca www.TradeShowExecutive.com | August 2012 17
