MONTH IN REVIEW Ritz-Carlton DC Will Host TSE's 2012 Gold 100 Awards as the Event Begins East/West Rotational Pattern BY HIL ANDERSON, senior editor Washington, DC – Te Ritz-Carlton Washington, DC will be the venue for this year's Trade Show Executive (TSE) Gold 100 Summit & Awards as the annual salute to the exhibition industry's leading trade shows comes to the East Coast for the first time. Te biggest and best shows in the nation will be saluted at the 5-star Ritz- Carlton October 3-5, just a month before the presidential election. "Te entire nation, and Washington in particular, will be buzzing about politics and the economy," said Darlene Gudea, president of Trade Show Executive Media Group. "CEOs and show managers at the Gold 100 will be forecasting possible out- comes and the likely impact on the trade show industry," she added. "Being inside the Beltway at this historic time will be a great experience for all participants." Gudea announced that the Gold Gala will begin an East/West rotational pat- tern in 2012 in response to feedback from show organizers. "Tis year's event is expected to draw record participation due to the high concentration of honorees on the East Coast," she said. "TSE is also looking into selling tables at the Gold 100 Awards dinner so that key management staff and board members of leading shows can share in the celebra- tion and recognition," she added. Program development has kicked into high gear with the help of a creative advisory board. [See sidebar below]. Gold 100 sessions already on the drawing board include favorites such as Trend- ing and Spending; Bob Dallmeyer's Power Lunch interview with an industry leader; Burning Issues; the Inside Scoop on the Gold 100's most robust shows; and other timely content. Te event will include activities that take advantage of the beautiful early Fall weather and ample time for network- ing with industry peers and possible new service partners. "We will be covering the entire gamut of trends in business practices, innovation and the economy in a First Class venue and an exciting environment," said TSE Vice President of Events Diane Bjorklund. Te Gold 100 Summit & Awards will cap off with the annual awards gala featuring the TSE Gold Grand Awards presented to the Largest Show of 2011, the Top Organizing Company and other key categories such as Against All Odds and Te Leader in Green Initiatives. Te Ritz-Carlton Washington, DC is located in Northwest DC, within walking distance of the nightlife of Georgetown and handy to the National Mall, the White House and Capitol. Te luxury hotel recently underwent a $12 million renovation and includes lounge areas and two top-tier restaurants for small group meetings or socializing with peers.
